This program is delivered over 5 hours and is designed to give middle school and high school students the basic knowledge and skills needed to stay safe both at school and in their community.

De-escalation | the ultimate self-defense Skill (3hrs)

The NRA CCW (Concealed Carry) course is the latest pistol course released by the nation's leading firearms organization, The National Rifle Association. Passing is not easy, but can be accomplished by competent beginners and experienced shooters. Message us to find out if this course is right for you.

- Loading and Unloading a Firearm.
- Pistol Nomenclature and ammunition knowledge.
- Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense.
- Basic Defensive Pistol Skills including the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, and pistol shooting positions.
- Drawing from Concealment.
- Emergency Reloading.

- Avoiding a criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation.
- Firearms and the Law (IL and any Relevant Federal Laws) (a) relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of a firearm, (b) requirements for interacting with law enforcement while carrying or transporting a firearm.
- Firearm Cleaning and Maintenance.
- Sport Shooting and Training Activities. (offered upon request)
- Range time with live fire. Students should bring 200 rounds as this will include multiple practice rounds from varying distances, including out to 15 yards.
- Course Length: 16+ hours per IL State Law: 13+ hours classroom time and 3+ hours of range time. The live-fire portion will include both practice and completion of a test. The test will meet the IL State Law requirement of firing a MINIMUM of 30 total rounds with 70% accuracy; 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the Illinois State Police. Live-fire test will exceed this requirement.
- Minimum Age: 21yo.
- IL FOID card verification required before attending course.
This course meets the IL State CCL Course Requirements. IL STATE LAW
The NRA CCW Course is intended to meet the Course requirements of all 50 states, but it is up to the individual student to review their state laws before attending the course.
The IL State Law requires that up to 8 hours of previous training be accepted. Contact us if you have completed up to 8 previous hours of a State Approved course already. If you have you will still be required to attend 5+ additional classroom hours including the Firearm Safety and Legal portions regarding ownership, storage, and transportation of a firearm (Day One), and the range time. RSD would prefer you attend the entire course anyways though.
RSD is not yet an IL approved CCL instructor, and will begin the application process in September 2024.
